Host range and
symptoms
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms
persist (2/2), or vary seasonally (1/2).
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Cicadellidae. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus retained when the vector
moults (2/2); multiplies in the vector; not transmitted by mechanical
inoculation; not transmitted by grafting (1/1); not transmitted by contact
between plants (2/2); not transmitted by seed; not transmitted by pollen (1/1).
Experimental host range
Several (3-9) families
susceptible (1), or few (<3) families susceptible (2).

Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
TIP:
60-63.75-70 °C. LIV: 3-13.75-32 days. DEP: log10 minus 5 (1/1). Leaf sap
contains few virions (1/2), or contains many virions (1/2).
Particle morphology
Virions isometric; not enveloped;
28-30.16-33 nm in diameter; rounded in profile; with a conspicuous capsomere
arrangement.
Physical properties
Two sedimenting components in
purified preparations (2), or three sedimenting components in purified
preparations (1); sedimentation coefficient 119-119.3-120 S; of the
other(s) 54-55.5-57 S. Density 1.28-1.367-1.46 g cm-3 in CsCl.
A260/A280 ratio 0.87-1.353-1.63.
Biochemical properties
Virions contain 33 % nucleic acid;
67 % protein.
Genome consists of RNA; single-stranded; linear (2/2). Total genome size
6.7-6.98-7.5 kb. Genome unipartite; largest (or only) genome part 6.7-6.98-7.5
kb. Additional factor not required for infectivity (1/1).
Features of proteins
Virion protein(s) one (2/2);
Mr 22000-24250-26500. Virion proteins not glycosylated (1/1).
Replication
Replication does not depend on a helper virus
(2/2).
Cytopathology
Virions found in cytoplasm, or in cell
vacuoles (2). Inclusions present in infected cells (1/2), or absent from
infected cells (1/2); are crystals in the cytoplasm (1/1), or membranous bodies
(1/1), or viroplasms (1/1); they contain virions (1/1).
