Transmission
Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.
Geographical distribution
Spreads in the Eurasian region (but
is probably more widespread).
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Chenopodium quinoa - slight systemic leaf curling.
- Nicotiana glutinosa - systemic light green spotting leaves.
- N. clevelandii, Solanum demissum - symptomless systemic infection.

Properties of particles in sap
TIP:
72-74 °C. Leaf sap contains few virions.
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually flexuous; with a clear modal length; of 580 nm. Axial canal obscure.
Basic helix obscure.

Virus(es) with serologically unrelated virions
Cactus X, potato X, potato aucuba and zygocactus X viruses.
