Virions isometric; not enveloped; 33
nm in diameter.
Biochemical properties
Genome consists of RNA;
single-stranded. Total genome size 4.1 kb. Genome unipartite; largest (or
only) genome part 4.1 kb.
Features of proteins
Virion protein(s) one;
Mr 37100; coat protein.
Replication
Genome replicates in cytoplasm.
Taxonomy and
relationships
Virus(es) with serologically unrelated virions
Bean mild mosaic, blackgram mottle, carnation mottle, cucumber leaf
spot, cucumber soil-borne, elderberry latent, galinsoga mosaic, glycine mottle,
hibiscus chlorotic ringspot, melon necrotic spot, narcissus tip necrosis,
pelargonium flower break, saguaro cactus, tephrosia symptomless and turnip
crinkle carmoviruses and 12 tombusviruses.
Additional comments on relationships
In Northern blot hybridization tests, the genomic RNA showed some
homology with that of Ahlum waterborne and carnation mottle viruses.
