horseradish mosaic virus (Pound, 1948; Yoshii, 1963), radish P virus (Tochihara,
1959; Yoshii, 1963), tigridia mosaic virus (Brunt, 1976; Smith and Brierley,
1944).

Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Brassica campestris ssp. chinensis, B. japonica, B. campestris
ssp. rapa; from the U.S.A; by Schultz (1921).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
- Capsella bursa-pastoris, Brassica nigra, Brassica campestris
ssp. pekinensis, Stellaria media, Trifolium hybridum, Alliaria officinalis,
Calanthe sp., Hesperis matronalis - chlorotic local lesions,
mosaic, mottling, puckering or rugosity.
- Brassica campestris ssp.
chinensis, B. campestris ssp. rapa, B. japonica.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; 40-50
spp. especially Myzus persicae and Brevicoryne brassicae;
Aphididae. Transmitted in a non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by
mechanical inoculation; not transmitted by seed.
Geographical
distribution
Probably distributed worldwide. Spreads in Australia,
China, and the UK.
Experimental host range
Many (>9) families
susceptible.

symptoms
- Chenopodium quinoa - chlorotic local lesions;
not systemic.
- Brassica nigra, Brassica oleracea var. capitata,
Cichorium endiva, Cucurbita pepo, Pisum sativum, Nicotiana glutinosa, Petunia
× hybrida, Spinacia oleracea - systemic mosaic, rugosity.
- Brassica campestris ssp. pekinensis - chlorotic local
lesions; systemic mosaic, rugosity.

rapa, B. perviridis, Nicotiana glutinosa, Petunia × hybrida.

Cytopathology
Virions found in all parts of the host
plant; in cytoplasm. Inclusions cytoplasmic cylindrical present in infected
cells; are pinwheels and unusual in shape; bundles, scrolls and short, often
curved laminated aggregates; they do not contain virions.

Maize dwarf mosaic, potato Y and tobacco etch viruses, but distantly.

Bean yellow mosaic, iris severe mosaic, narcissus yellow stripe,
