Natural host range and symptoms
Trichosanthes
rostrata - leaf mottling.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Aphididae; Aphis gossypii, Myzus persicae. Transmitted in a
non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.
Geographical distribution
Spreads in the Eastern Asian
region; Japan.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Benincasa hispida, Cucumis sativus, Cucurbita maxima × C.
moschata, C. moschata, Luffa cylindrica and Momordica charantia -
systemic chlorotic spotting.
- Citrullus lanatus, Cucumis melo, Lagenaria
leucantha and Trichosanthes anguina - systemic vein clearing, vein
necrosis, mottling and/or distortion.
- Trichosanthes rostrata -
systemic mottling.
Diagnostically insusceptible host species
Chenopodium amaranticolor, C. murale, C. quinoa, Datura
stramonium, Nicotiana clevelandii, N. glutinosa.
