Index
Data collated by N. Yoshikawa, 1991.
Nomenclature
ICTV decimal code
Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Fragaria × ananassa; from the U.S.A and Australia; by Frazier and
Stubbs (1957).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms none.
- Fragaria × ananassa.
Transmission
Virus not transmitted by mechanical
inoculation; transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by contact between plants.
Ecology and control
Studies reported by Mullin et al.
(1975).
Geographical distribution
Spreads in Australia,
Canada, and the USA.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Experimentally infected plants mostly show leaf deformation and chlorosis and
dwarfing of the plant.
Diagnostically susceptible host species
and symptoms
- Fragaria × ananassa, F. vesca -
symptomless.
- Fragaria virginiana - leaf deformation, chlorosis and
dwarfing.
Maintenance and propagation hosts
Fragaria
× ananassa, F. vesca.
Assay hosts (Local
lesions or Whole plants)
Susceptible host species
Families containing susceptible hosts
Features of the genome
3-14 virus specified dsRNA
species found in infected cells (depending on isolates). Size of largest virus
specified dsRNA 4.3-5.2 kbp.
