in Fragaria spp.; from Japan and North America; by Yoshikawa et
al. (1986).
Natural host range and symptoms
Fragaria spp. -
most cultivars symptomless.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Chaetosiphon fragaefolii; Aphididae. Virus transmitted by grafting.
Geographical distribution
Spreads in the Eastern Asian region
and the North American region; Canada, Japan, and the USA.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Fragaria vesca - symptomless in fection of clones UC4.
Severe leaf epinasty of young leaves of clone UC5, mottling and distortion of
leaves produced subsequently, plants stunted.
