First reported
in Glycine max; from northern New South Wales, Australia; by Dale et
al. (1975).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
- Glycine max - mosaic.
Transmission
Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.
Geographical distribution
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Glycine max - mosaic.
- Phaseolus vulgaris cv.
Bountiful - green local lesions when inoculated leaves senesce.
- Lathyrus odoratus, Macroptilium lathyroides - symptomless systemic
infection.

Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
TIP:
60-64 °C. LIV: more than 10 days. DEP: log10 minus 3-4. Leaf sap contains few
virions.
Purification method
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually flexuous; with a clear modal length; of 610 nm. Axial canal obscure.
Physical properties
One sedimenting component in purified
preparations.
Biochemical properties
Features of proteins
Virion protein(s) one;
Mr 27400; coat protein. Method of preparation: Dale and Gibbs (1975).
Amino acid composition: Dale and Gibbs (1975).
Cytopathology
Virions found in leaves; in cytoplasm.
Inclusions present in infected cells; are amorphous X-bodies; they contain
virions.
Taxonomy and
relationships
Best tests for diagnosis
This virus
could be confused with soybean mosaic virus, but can be distinguished by
serological tests and is not transmitted by aphids.
