Nomenclature
Acronym
ICTV decimal code
Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Annona muricata; from Ceara, Brazil; by Kitajima et al. (1993).
Natural host range and symptoms
- Annona
muricata (soursop) - vein-clearing, yellow blotch and leaf distortion,
stunting.
Transmission
Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation;
transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by seed.
Geographical
distribution
Spreads in the South and Central American region; Brazil.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Annona muricata - vein-clearing, yellow blotching and
leaf distortion.
- Annona squamosa, Rollinia deliciosa (biriba)
- leaves near graft site show vein-clearing.
Diagnostically
insusceptible host species
Brassica oleracea var. acephala,
Capsicum annuum, Chenopodium amaranticolor, C. quinoa, Datura stramonium,
Gomphrena globosa, Lactuca sativa, Lycopersicon esculentum, Nicandra physalodes,
Nicotiana benthamiana, N. glutinosa, N. rustica, N. tabacum and Vigna
unguiculata.

Physical and biochemical properties
Particle morphology
Virions rhabdo- or
bullet-shaped; of 250-300 nm; 60-70 nm wide.
Cytopathology
Virions found in cytoplasm (mostly
c.400 x 60 nm.); in cisternae of endoplasmic reticulum, but not
perinuclear space.
Taxonomy and
relationships
Virus(es) with serologically unrelated virions
Lettuce necrotic yellows, sowthistle yellow vein and maize mosaic
viruses.
