in Allium sp. (unidentified); from the Netherlands; by Van Dijk (1993).
Natural host range and symptoms
Allium sp.
unident. (Sint-Jan's onion), A. ampeloprasum var. sectivum (pearl
onion), A. cepa var. ascalonicum (shallot), A. cepa var.
perutile (ever-ready onion), A. chinense (rakkyo), A.
fistulosum (Welsh onion) - symptomless.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus
(Sciamyzus) ascalonicus; Aphididae. Virus transmitted by mechanical
inoculation.
Geographical distribution
Found, but with no
evidence of spread, in Indonesia, The Netherlands.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Experimentally infected plants mostly show No symptoms.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
Allium cepa var. cepa, A. vineale (crow garlic), A.
cepa var. ascalonicum, A. fistulosum (Welsh onion) -
symptomless infection.
Diagnostically insusceptible host species
Allium sativum, Chlorophytum comosum, Lilium formosanum.
