General comments
The pathogen causing
the sterility mosaic disease of pigeonpea Cajanus cajan in India is
transmissible by mites (Aceria cajani) and by grafting, and has long been
considered to be virus-induced (Capoor, 1952). However, as no virus has been
isolated from, or detected in, affected plants during recent intensive
investigations, the pathogen is still unknown (Wendy Sachs, personal
communication).
