Purification method
Wetter: clarify
with chloroform-butanol (1:1 v/v), precipitate with 4% polyethylene glycol
and 4% NaCl, resuspend and subject to several cycles of differential
centrifugation.
Particle morphology
Virions rod-shaped; not enveloped;
usually straight; with a clear modal length; of 317 nm; 18 nm wide. Axial canal
obvious. Basic helix obvious.
Physical properties
One sedimenting component in purified
preparations; sedimentation coefficient 196 S. A260/A280 ratio
1.33.

Virus(es) with serologically related virions
Odontoglossum ringspot, tomato mosaic, tobacco mosaic, ribgrass
mosaic, tobacco mild green mosaic, pepper mild mottle, sunn-hemp mosaic,
frangipani mosaic and cucumber green mottle mosaic viruses.
