First reported
in Setaria italica; from the Peoples Republic of China; by Yu et
al. (1957).
Natural host range and symptoms
- Setaria
italica - reddening of leaf blades and stems of purple stemmed cultivars
and leaf yellowing in green stemmed cultivars.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Rhopalosiphum maidis, Macrosiphum (Sitobion) avenae and Schizaphis
graminum; Aphididae. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus not
transmitted by seed.
Geographical distribution
Found, but
with no evidence of spread, in the Peoples Republic of China (Yu et al.,
1957; 1958).
