• Impatiens holstii - symptomless infection.

Transmission

Not transmitted by Myzus persicae. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.

Geographical distribution

Spreads in the USA.

Experimental host range

Several (3-9) families susceptible.

Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms

• Gomphrena globosa, Tetragonia tetragonioides - local lesions; not systemic.
• Chenopodium album, C. amaranticolor, C. quinoa - local lesions; then systemic mottling.
• Beta vulgaris - symptomless systemic infection.

Diagnostically insusceptible host species

Cucumis sativus, Phaseolus vulgaris, Vigna unguiculata, Nicotiana clevelandii.

Virions filamentous; usually flexuous; with a clear modal length; of 520 nm. Axial canal obscure. Basic helix obscure.

Virions found in leaves and mesophyll.

Virus(es) with serologically unrelated virions

Potato X, cymbidium mosaic, clover yellow mosaic, papaya mosaic and nandina mosaic viruses.
