Index
Data collated by G.M. Behncken, 1983.
Nomenclature
Acronym
ICTV decimal code
Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Cyamopsis tetragonoloba; from seed stocks from India, Pakistan,
U.S.A.; by Hansen and Lesemann (1978).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms disappear soon
after infection.
- Cyamopsis tetragonoloba - mild green mottle or symptomless.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus
persicae; Aphididae. Transmitted in a non-persistent manner. Virus
transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by seed (up to 70% in
commercial seeds lots).
Geographical distribution
Probably
distributed worldwide. Found, but with no evidence of spread, in Australia,
India, Pakistan and the U.S.A.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Chenopodium amaranticolor - necrotic local lesions.
- C. quinoa, Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Bountiful - chlorotic local
lesions.
- Glycine soja, Macroptilium lathyroides - systemic mosaic.
- Macrotyloma uniflorum - necrotic local lesions and systemic lethal
necrosis.
Assay hosts (Local lesions or Whole plants)
Chenopodium amaranticolor (L),
Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Bountiful (L).

Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
Leaf sap
contains few virions.
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually flexuous; of 760 nm; 12 nm wide.
Cytopathology
Virions found in all parts of the host
plant; in cytoplasm. Inclusions present in infected cells; are pinwheels (of the
scroll-type); they do not contain virions. Other cellular changes: cell wall
proliferations and enlarged mitochondria.
