Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Datura sanguinea, Datura candida; from Datura cuttings imported
from the Sibundoy Valley, Putumato, Colombia; by Kahn and Bartels (1968).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist, or
disappear soon after infection.
- Datura candida, D. sanguinea - veinbanding, chlorotic
flecking followed by mottling.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus
persicae; Aphididae. Transmitted in a non-persistent manner. Virus
transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting.
Geographical distribution
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Datura metel - wilting and death.
- Nicotiana
tabacum cv. Virginia - chlorotic and necrotic spots.
- Nicotiana
tabacum cv. Samsun - chlorotic or necrotic spots, veinal necrosis.
- Solanum demissum × S. tuberosum `A-6' - necrotic spots.
- Datura stramonium - chlorotic spots, occasionally.
- Gomphrena globosa var. rubra - red bordered local lesions.
Diagnostically insusceptible host species
Maintenance and propagation hosts
