in Crinum spp.; from New South Wales, Australia; by Pares and Bertus
(1978).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
Symptoms longitudinal streaking, yellow mosaic and general chlorosis.
- Crinum spp. - pale streaking, then mosaic and general
chlorosis.
Geographical distribution
Spreads in Australia and Fiji
(Brunt, 1980).

Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
DEP:
log10 minus 2-4. Leaf sap contains many virions.
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually flexuous; with a clear modal length; of 780 nm; 11 nm wide. Axial canal
obscure. Basic helix obscure.
Cytopathology
Virions found in leaves, mesophyll and
epidermis; in cytoplasm. Inclusions present in infected cells; are pinwheels and
unusual in shape; and tubular structures; they contain virions. Other cellular
changes: pinwheel and tubular inclusions, large masses of virions, nuclei with
invaginations containing mitochondria.
