First reported
in Vigna unguiculata; from Morocco; by Fischer and Lockhart (1976).
Natural host range and symptoms
- Vigna
unguiculata - severe leaf chlorosis (symptoms even more severe when
co-infected with cucumber mosaic virus.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus

not require a helper virus for vector transmission; transmitted by mechanical
inoculation; transmitted by seed.

General comments
The virus was
originally called cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus, like that described by
Lovisolo and Conti (1966). The latter was probably an isolate of bean common
mosaic virus, but is no longer available for comparative tests, and hence a
nomen nudum. This virus is best differentiated from the latter by adding
"Moroccan" to its name.
