Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Dioscorea batatas f. typica; from Japan; by Fukumoto and
Tochihara (1978).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
- Dioscorea batatas - chlorotic and necrotic spots or netting.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus
persicae and Aphis gossypii; Aphididae. Transmitted in a
non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants.
Geographical
distribution
Experimental host range
Experimentally infected plants
mostly show chlorosis.
Diagnostically susceptible host species
and symptoms
- Dioscorea batatas - chlorosis and
necrosis.
Maintenance and propagation hosts
Assay hosts (Local lesions or Whole plants)
Susceptible host species
Families containing susceptible hosts
Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
Leaf sap
contains few virions.
Purification method
Fukumoto and
Tochihara (1978).
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; of 660 nm; 12-13
nm wide.
