Nomenclature
Acronym
ICTV decimal code
Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Capsicum annuum; from Malayasia; by Burnett (1947).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms veinal mottle,
malformation.
- Capsicum annuum, C. frutescens - dark green mottling adjacent
to main leaf veins, reduction in leaf area and distortion; plants stunted
(severity dependent upon cultivar and duration of infection).
- Capsicum spp. - veinal mottle, malformation.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Aphis
craccivora, A. gossypii, A. spiraecola, Myzus persicae, Toxoptera citricidus,
Hysteroneura setarieae, Rhopalosiphum maidis; Aphididae. Transmitted in a
non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation;
transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by seed.
Geographical
distribution
Spreads in Korea D.P.R. (North), Korea Republic, Malaysia,
the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Capsicum annuum - systemic vein clearing, followed by
leaf mottling.
Diagnostically insusceptible host species
Chenopodium quinoa, Datura stramonium, Gomphrena globosa, Cucumis
sativus.
Maintenance and propagation hosts
Capsicum
annuum, Nicandra physalodes, Nicotiana megalosiphon, Physalis floridana,
Nicotiana tabacum.
