Natural host range and symptoms
Cicer arietinum
- reddening of leaflets, phloem browning and severe stunting.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Orosius orientalis; Cicadellidae. Virus not transmitted by mechanical
inoculation.
Geographical distribution
Experimental host range
Several (3-9) families
susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and
symptoms
- Beta vulgaris, Lens culinaris, Pisum sativum, Datura
stramonium, Nicotiana benthamiana, N. tabacum - systemic leaf chlorosis,
sometimes leaf mottling and stunting.
- Cicer arietinum - leaf
yellowing and reddening, leaf rolling, phloem browning and stunting.
Diagnostically insusceptible host species
Arachis
hypogaea, Cajanus cajan, Cucumis sativus, Glycine max, Nicotiana occidentalis,
Vigna unguiculata.
Maintenance and propagation hosts
Cicer arietinum, Pisum sativum.
