Particle morphology

Virions isometric; 30 nm in diameter.

Biochemical properties

Genome consists of RNA; double-stranded. Total genome size 4.95 kb (pairs). Genome of two parts; largest (or only) genome part the larger 2.55 kb (pairs); the 2nd largest 2.4 kb (pairs).

Betacryptovirus: Partitiviridae

Additional comments on relationships

The viral dsRNA genome has no detectable sequence homology with those of carrot temperate 1, 3 and 4 cryptoviruses.

Best tests for diagnosis

The virus often occurs in mixed infections with other carrot temperate cryptoviruses.
