First reported
in Rubus rigidus (wild trailing blackberry); from South Africa; by
Engelbrecht (1963).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
- Rubus rigidus - yellow mosaic and line patterns in early
spring; later leaves symptomless.
Transmission
Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation;
transmitted by grafting; transmitted by seed.
Geographical
distribution
Found, but with no evidence of spread, in South Africa.
Experimental host range
Several (3-9) families
susceptible.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and
symptoms
- Chenopodium murale, C. quinoa - local lesions;
systemic necrotic ringspots or chlorotic mottling.
- Gomphrena globosa,
Nicotiana tabacum - chlorotic or necrotic local lesions; not systemic.

Cucumis
sativus, Petunia × hybrida, Phaseolus vulgaris.

Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually flexuous; with a clear modal length; of 730 nm. Axial canal obscure.
