ICTV decimal code
Host range and symptoms
First reported
in Alstroemeria sp.; from New York, U.S.A.; by Wong et al. (1992).
Natural host range and symptoms
Symptoms persist.
Symptoms streaking and stunting.
- Alstroemeria - streaking, stunting and mosaic of leaves.
Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Macrosiphum euphorbiae; Aphididae. Virus transmitted by mechanical
inoculation; not transmitted by contact between plants.
Geographical
distribution
Found, but with no evidence of spread, in Netherlands, UK
and USA.
Experimental host range
Few (<3) families susceptible.
Experimentally infected plants mostly show chlorotic streaking.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms
- Chenopodium amaranticolor, Hyoscyamus niger, Tetragonia
tetragonioides - local chlorotic lesions, not systemic.
- Nicotiana
benthamiana, N. clevelandii, N. hesperis 67A, N. occidentalis P1 -
local chlorotic lesions, systemic chlorosis.
- Nicotiana occidentalis
- systemic chlorosis. Nicotiana occidentalis Japan - systemic
chlorotic streaks parallel to midrib.
Diagnostically insusceptible
host species
Nicotiana glutinosa, Chenopodium quinoa.
Maintenance and propagation hosts
Nicotiana
occidentalis Japan.
Assay hosts (Local
lesions or Whole plants)
Nicotiana
occidentalis Japan (W).
Susceptible host species
